Connecting to the CAE Lab File Server
The following instructions should help you to connect to the CAE Lab's central file server from other locations on campus, assuming Windows 2000 or Windows XP is installed on the local PC. Windows NT systems will have a very similar, but not identical procedure.
ITS provides limited file space on drive U: which is accessible from all their computer labs, but is not enough space for the typical graduate research project. CAE Lab users are encouraged to connect to the main CAE Lab file server from other campus computer labs instead.
Instructions
Right-click the My Computer icon and select Map Network Drive.

In the Map Network Drive dialog box, enter the following:
Drive: F:
Folder: \\files.cae.tntech.edu\homes

If your username on your local PC is not the same as your username in
the CAE network, click the Connect using a different username button, then enter your CAE username and password.
Otherwise, click the Finish button.

If no error messages pop up, drive letter F: should now be mapped to the CAE Lab file server.
Notes
If drive letter F: is already being used on the local PC, pick another one.
Avoid modifying any files on the file server from both Windows and Unix systems at the same time.
Students with file space in the Acoustics and Vibrations Laboratory can
use the above instructions by changing the drive letter to K: and the path to \\es104a.me.tntech.edu\users
Students with file space in the Engineering Workstation Laboratories can use the above instructions by changing the drive letter to L: and the path to \\ch324.cae.tntech.edu\users
