Changing your CAE Password

How to change your CAE password using Remote Desktop.

Starting Remote Desktop

Follow the instructions for Windows users or for OS X users, depending on what operating system you use on your local computer.

Windows users

Find the Remote Desktop Connection shortcut in your start menu. Click it.

01 Start Button Remote Desktop

On the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box, enter ch208o.cae.tntech.edu for the name of the remote computer. Click the Connect button.

02 Remote Desktop Dialog

Most likely, you’ll be unable to verify the identity of the remote system. Click the Yes button to continue connecting.

03 Remote Identity Unverified

Enter your CAE username and current password at the logon dialog. Press the Enter key after both items have been entered.

02 Logon With Old Password

Once that’s done, skip to the section titled Did your password expire?

OS X users

The Remote Desktop client included with Office 2011 will not work for this procedure. Either download and install CoRD from http://cord.sourceforge.net or the newer Remote Desktop from the Mac App Store.

CoRD

After installing and running CoRD, enter ch208o.cae.tntech.edu into the Quick Connect box, and press the Return key.

01 Cord Quick Connect

Microsoft Remote Desktop

After installing and running the newer Microsoft Remote Desktop client, click the New button to create a new entry for accessing the password reset server. Enter the following information:

  • Conection name: CAE password reset
  • PC name: ch208o.cae.tntech.edu

and close the new session dialog.

Double-click the CAE password reset entry in the server list.

When first connecting to the server, you’ll be asked to verify the server’s identity. Click the Connect Always button to continue connecting.

Logging in

Enter your CAE username and current password at the logon dialog. Press the Return key after both items have been entered.

02 Logon With Old Password

Once that’s done, skip to the section titled Did your password expire?

You’ll be required to change your password right after the logon screen. Click the OK button on the dialog that appears.

05 Must Change Password

Now skip to the section titled Changing the password.
